Name: Gentleman Rich Fisher
Tattooing Since: 1999
P.O.B.: Rockwood Michigan
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with me here goes. I grew up in SOUTH south-east MI, might as well as been the middle of Ohio. I was introduced to tattooing through the BMX/ Skateboard/ Snowboard/ Punkrock scene. Needless to say like any wayward youth i jumped in headfirst.Starting in 1999 I was taught the trade by Mel "THE HEAD" McElhiney. After a VERY quick apprenticeship I was thrown in there working on local hoodlums, gangbangers, and punk rock kids. There was however a HUGE push by Mel to understand my tools. I learned to build, tune, and assemble a machine, solder needles, and mix my own pigment. I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity as I see these fundamentals being lost on my generation of tattoo artists . I've always been fairly mechanically inclined so it was only natural for me to start tinkering with, and eventually building my own machines. After years of gathering knowledge, lots of trial and lots of error I am now very proud of my machine building/tuning skills. However I also pride myself on building solid tools for a variety of different artists to compliment a vast array of tattooing techniques.I consider myself a very well rounded artsist that works in a variety of other mediums.
Regards, Rich Fisher
